Description
The specimen is an open portion of sigmoid colon. Situated at the distal end is a localized
carcinoma. The tumour has been bisected and has a rolled margin. The tumour appears to infiltrate
the muscularis externa and on microscopic examination penetrated through the serosa. Two small
metaplastic polyps are seen on the mucosal surface proximal to the tumour.
